The MCI Veronica ship crew held a tumpeng-cutting celebration as an expression of gratitude on February 19, 2025.

This event marked a significant moment for the entire team to celebrate the vessel’s first step in supporting MCI Shipping’s operations.

The entire ship crew gathered with great enthusiasm to witness this special moment and marked the vessel’s operational commencement with hopes for success and safety on every voyage.

Capt. Tommy Soselisa, the Master of the Vessel, continued the event by delivering his opening speech, where he expressed his hopes for MCI Veronica to operate smoothly and contribute meaningfully to the company.

Capt. Pieter Uktolseja, Crew & QHSE Dev Head, representing the Jakarta Office, and Capt. Yanni Richard, Branch Manager, representing the Banjarmasin Office, also delivered their speeches.

They used this occasion to reaffirm their commitment to continuously support the vessel’s operations and maintain synergy between the sea and land teams in achieving a shared vision.

As the highlight of the event, the team performed a traditional tumpeng-cutting ceremony to express gratitude and prayers for MCI Veronica’s blessed journey.

They then shared the tumpeng among all the crews as a gesture of unity and good wishes for the future.

The ceremony concluded with a communal meal, where the crew and team enjoyed the dishes in a warm and family-like atmosphere.

This moment symbolized strong camaraderie and teamwork as they faced future challenges together.

MCI Shipping held its annual gathering, which was not only filled with work agendas but also packed with fun and camaraderie. 

Located in Malang, East Java, this three-day event featured a lot of activities, including an annual meeting, an adventure to Mount Bromo, and team-building sessions aimed at strengthening synergy.

The event was designed to align operational strategies while fostering stronger team relationships in a more relaxed atmosphere.

Aligning the Vision

The first day began with a work meeting attended by the entire MCI Shipping team and management. 

During this session, the management expressed appreciation for the hard work of all employees over the past year while also presenting strategies to navigate the challenges of the maritime industries.

The second day started early as the team set off for Mount Bromo, eager to witness its breathtaking sunrise. 

However, upon arrival, rain and thick fog covered the area, obscuring the much-anticipated sunrise.

Despite the weather, spirits remained high. Instead of being discouraged, the team embraced the moment, enjoying the crisp mountain air and capturing unique group photos in the mist, which created a different yet memorable experience. 

Laughter and togetherness filled the morning, proving that this journey was not just about the views but about the shared experiences and memories created along the way.

Strengthening Teamwork

After leaving Bromo, the group continued with a team-building session featuring various challenges and games designed to enhance teamwork and collaboration.

Each challenge teaches the importance of communication, strategic thinking, and unity, making sessions not only enjoyable but also a valuable learning experience. 

“This team-building activity taught us to understand each other better, build trust, and work together towards shared goals,” said one participant from the operations team. 

As the day turned into night, the excitement continued with a special dinner event featuring interactive games, gift exchange session, exciting door prizes, best dress competition with an 80s theme. 

This gathering became a platform for participants to express their creativity through fashion while closing the day with joy and togetherness.

A Day In Apple Garden

The final day was spent in a more relaxed setting, with participants enjoying a fruit-picking experience at an apple orchard.

They delighted in selecting and picking fresh apples straight from the trees, tasting the region’s famous fruit right from its source. 

After taking in the beautiful highland views, the group prepared to head back home.

Before departing, participants took the opportunity to shop for local Malang delicacies and souvenirs, bringing home gifts for family and friends.

This work meeting and team-building experience served as an important reflection for the entire MCI Shipping team, reinforcing the company’s commitment to moving forward with renewed energy and unity.
